How to Capture Intimate Moments on The Wedding Day

Candid photography is all about capturing genuine, unplanned moments as they happen. It's a way to document the real emotions and experiences of your couple’s wedding day and can result in some truly stunning and memorable images.

Here are some tips for capturing candid photography:

  1. Stay out of sight: Try to blend into the background and avoid drawing attention to yourself. This will allow your subjects to be more relaxed and natural.

  2. Use a telephoto lens: A telephoto lens allows you to capture candid moments from a distance, which can be especially helpful in crowded or busy environments. (E.g. 70-200mm Lens)

  3. Be patient: Candid moments often happen unexpectedly, so it's important to be patient and wait for the right shot to present itself. Try to anticipate conversations had through your lens.

  4. Look for unique angles and perspectives: Instead of always shooting from eye level, try shooting from above or below your subjects to add interest and variety to your candid shots.

  5. For me, I always have two cameras on me. One is usually attached with a 35mm and the other an 85mm. I always have a camera in hand, ready for them spare of the moment moments.

  4. Be spontaneous: Don't be afraid to try new things and experiment with different compositions. Sometimes the most unexpected shots can be the most memorable.

  5. Capturing a group of people enjoying themselves is sometimes favorable over single candids of guests, Your brides & grooms would love to see their guests enjoying one another. I would try to save individual candid shots for Key members of immediate family and bridal parties.
